A fire inside a painter’s van was put out by Riverhead firefighters this afternoon around 3:30 p.m. downtown.

According to Riverhead police, the van at the River Pointe apartments was “fully engulfed in flames” before firefighters arrived on scene and put it out.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

Riverhead Fire Marshals were called to the scene to investigate the incident, though it does not appear to be suspicious according to Riverhead Police Sgt. John Devereaux.
