Flanders News: Hope Day at Truth Community Church

Truth Community ChurchHello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

I would like to congratulate Amy Wesolowski and John Perkowski on the birth of their beautiful daughter, Kinley Ann Perkowski, on April 15. She weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces, and was 17 3/4 inches long. The whole family is new to our community, so a big welcome to all.

And congratulations to Fred and Veronica Korte, whose family is also growing. Their daughter gave birth to a beautiful little girl in January and, on April 29, their son Frederick was married to Kaelin Catena. The couple will be honeymooning in Ireland at the end of May.

Susan Miles Santana tells me her son Marcus has joined the Marines and will graduate July 1.

Flanders Northampton Volunteer Ambulance will be collecting items for a chinese auction planned for the end of the summer. Members are raising money to offset the cost of a Lucas automatic chest compression machine. Anyone interested in donating can contact Veronica at [email protected].

Truth Community Church, at 46 Bell Ave., will celebrate Hope Day on Saturday, June 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the whole community. They will need some volunteers, so if you would like to help, please be at the church by 9 a.m. for orientation and training. You can call the church office at 631-727-1651 for information.

Southampton Town’s Flanders Senior Community Center on Flanders Road has put out a call for volunteers to teach an exercise class, yoga, crafts, music, painting or other activities you feel might be fun to teach others. If interested, contact Ruth Simon at 631-702-2375.

We have lots of events on Saturday, May 21: From 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. a community yard sale will be held in Northampton at Wildwood Trail, Birch Court, Pine Path and Pine Court (the development next to Wildwood Lanes). For more information, call 631-697-0424. That same day residents of the Bay View Pines and Waters Edge community will hold yard sales from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They are asking for a $10 donation. For information, call 631-566-2204. Then there will be a craft fair and flea market at the Big Duck from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. To reserve a booth, get more information or volunteer, call Doris at 631-727-5093. All of these events have a rain date of Sunday, May 22.

Don’t forget the school budget vote on Tuesday, May 17, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Everyone from our community will vote at Phillips Avenue school.

A reminder: The community garden planting will be at 9:30 a.m. this Saturday, May 14, at the David W. Crohan Community Center.

On a personal note, I would like to ask everyone to pray for the Moretti family of Manorville. The family lost their beautiful daughter, Christine, about three years ago and this past week they lost their son, Johnny. I know they are not from our community, but many here knew both Christine and Johnny. Please keep their parents in your prayers.

Thank you to everyone for all of your calls, texts, Facebook messages and emails with all of your news. Keep it coming!
