Cops: Unlicensed driver fled scene after crashing into Riverhead pizzeria

An unlicensed Nassau County man was arrested on a drugged driving charge late Sunday morning after he crashed a vehicle into Sergio’s Pizza on Route 58 in Riverhead and fled the scene, town police said. 

Jaquan Harris, 27, of Uniondale (pictured) was taken into custody after he was located a short distance from the scene in the vehicle involved in the crash, police said. Nobody was injured in the incident, which occurred shortly before noon.

Mr. Harris was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, according to a police press release.

The Riverhead Town fire marshal responded to the scene to inspect the structural integrity of the building and the pizzeria remained closed Sunday afternoon.
