Cops: Two people caught with crack cocaine in Riverside

Two people were arrested on drug charges during separate investigations last week in Riverside, according to a Southampton Town police press release.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, police reportedly found Rasheeda Brown of Riverhead, 30, “acting suspiciously” as she attempted to conceal a crack pipe in her hand.

Ms. Brown allegedly threw crack cocaine on the ground and stepped on it as an officer attempted to pick it up, police said.

After reportedly struggling with the officer, Ms. Brown was charged with tampering with physical evidence, a felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors, officials said.

On Saturday, police made a second drug arrest in Riverside.

Around 5:15 p.m., police said, they responded to the area to investigate complaints about “suspicious subjects and ongoing narcotics use.”

During the investigation, police reportedly found Shareem Giles of Riverhead, 45, attempting to hide drugs in his pants.

As officers began talking to Mr. Giles, a container holding crack cocaine fell out of his pants and onto the floor, officials said.

Mr. Giles was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
