Cops: Citgo gas station in Riverhead robbed at gunpoint

An armed robbery was reported at Citgo gas station in Riverhead Wednesday night and police are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect, according to a press release.

Police said the robber entered the gas station at the intersection of Route 58 and Osborn Avenue around 9:45 p.m. and demanded money from a store clerk while displaying a gun. The clerk gave the man cash and the robber fled on foot, police said.

Officers and a K9 unit searched the area for the suspect, but couldn’t find him, officials said.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing black clothing and a mask, police said.
