The victim, who was identified only as a 69-year-old man, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by Wading River Fire Department personnel for treatment of facial injuries sustained during the incident, police said.

Mr. Puglisi was charged with second degree assault, a class D felony. That specific charge was related to a section of state penal for attacks on a victim over 65 years of age by someone more than 10 years younger.

He was arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court where Judge Lori Hulse remanded him to the custody of the Suffolk County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to police.
