Cops: Two people caught shoplifting at Target charged with felony
A man and woman were arrested Friday on felony charges after they tried to steal more than $1,700 in merchandise from Target on Route 58, according to a Riverhead Town police press release.
Erol Baturer, 25, and Tara Garcia, 21, who police say are homeless, reportedly placed items in a shopping cart and attempted to leave the Riverhead store without paying.
They were both arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, police said.
Mr. Baturer and Ms. Garcia were transported to police headquarters for processing and held for an arraignment, officials said.
