Cops: Man assaulted, robbed on Second Street in Riverhead

Riverhead Town police are searching for two suspects who reportedly assaulted and robbed a Hispanic man Friday night on Second Street in Riverhead, according to a press release.

Police were called around 9:20 p.m. to the scene near Suffolk County National Bank where they found the victim bleeding from his face, officials said.

The victim told police he was assaulted by two black males who were armed with a knife, the release states.

He reported the suspects punched him in the face, threw him to the ground and stole his cell phone and money, police said.

Police said the victim suffered a laceration to his face and was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

In May, three people reportedly assaulted and robbed a Hispanic man near the railroad tracks.

It is not immediately clear whether this robbery is related to the other muggings.
