Janet Wolbert Krudop

Janet Wolbert Krudop of Greenport and formerly of Riverhead died on April 5, 2017, at Kanas Center for Hospice in Quiogue. She was 72.

Born July 8, 1944, in Greenport to Doris Cox and Howard Lum Wolbert, she was raised in Mattituck. She was a member of the Mattituck High School Class of 1962, whose classmates continued to stay in close contact with one another.

On Aug. 29, 1964, she married Robert H. Krudop of Mattituck. Together they made their home in Riverhead for 49 years. Four years ago, she moved to Peconic Landing in Greenport.

She had been an enthusiastic youth member of 4H and in later years was a past board member of Kent Animal Shelter and a member of the East End Livestock and Horseman’s Association.

Janet was a former owner of Culligan Water Conditioning of Suffolk County.

Predeceased by her husband Bob on Nov. 17, 2003, she is survived by two children, Ellen Krudop Talbot and Robert Henry Krudop both of Mattituck; two brothers, James Wolbert of Harpursville, N.Y. and Howard Wolbert of Mattituck; a sister Linda Wolbert Ruland of Mattituck and four grandchildren, Thomas and Alexandra Talbot and Douglas and Julie Krudop. She was also predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Ann Coleman.

The family received visitors April 7  at DeFriest-Gratttan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Chapel services were held April 8 at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. John Carrick. Interment followed at New Bethany Cemetery in Mattituck.
