Donald E. Lee

Donald E. Lee of Aquebogue died April 4 at Southampton Hospital. He was 89.

The son of Harold and Grace (Milne) Lee, he was born Jan. 7, 1928, in Flushing.

He attended Hope College in Holland, Mich., and served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952.

On April 24, 1965, Donald married Carol Bird in Manhattan.

He worked as a corporate banker with Irving Trust in New York City.

Family members said he was a junior player for the New York Rangers, and enjoyed ice hockey, boating, fishing, gardening and bird watching.

Donald is survived by his wife, Carol; his daughter, Tina (Tom) Ruschin of Aquebogue; and his grandchildren, Sophie and Kyle.

Arrangements were entrusted to Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. Cremation was private.

A “Thanksgiving for his life” service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, at Old Steeple Community Church in Aquebogue.

Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s research or any veterans’ program.
