Celebrate Riverhead’s 225th anniversary at Colonial Ball on June 9

If you’ve ever needed a reason to dress up as George Washington, a pilgrim or in a general 1700’s-themed outfit, you’re in luck.

Riverhead Town, as part of its 225th anniversary, is planning a Colonial Ball at the Suffolk Theater on June 9. The event, from 7 to 11 p.m., will feature a contest for best dressed colonial costumes.

“Come celebrate our beautiful Town’s 225th anniversary with a night of dining, dancing and reminiscing,” a flyer for the event reads.

Tickets are $60 and are available at SuffolkTheater.com. The event is presented by United Riverhead Terminal.

The night will feature hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner and a cash bar. The New Millennium Jazz Band will provide entertainment.

Colonial attire is optional.

The Town plans to host different events throughout the year. In 2016, Councilman Tim Hubbard had noted a colonial ball would be one option, along with a possible parade, concerts and speakers on colonial history.
