Tessie Doroski Karpinski

Longtime Riverhead resident Tessie Doroski Karpinski died June 12, 2017, at the Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead under the care of the Palliative Care Center, where she received outstanding care. 

Tessie was born in Middle Island Sept. 23, 1921, and spent her early years in Cutchogue and Calverton before marrying Joseph Karpinski of Riverhead May 21, 1950.

She resided in Riverhead for 67 years and was a parishioner at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Tessie was involved with farming her entire life and enjoyed baking cookies and making pies for her family. She was always taking family photos and to relax she enjoyed doing all sorts of puzzles.

Tessie is predeceased by her husband and siblings, Stella Wisniewski, Louise Terrone, Anna Mandrona, Bertha Isder, Stanley Doroski and Alyce Chico. She is survived by her children, Beatrice Gallo (Fred) and John Karpinski; grandsons, Fred Gallo (Loretta) and David Gallo (Catherine) and great-grandchildren, David, Benjamin, Joshua and Hannah and beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors Friday, June 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
