Photos: 43rd annual Polish Town Fair and Festival
The 43rd annual Polish Town Fair and Polka Festival was held Saturday at Riverhead’s Polish Town.
The free event sponsored by the Polish Town Civic Association continues Sunday, Aug. 20, and features art, crafts, jewelry, specialty booths featuring Polish imports and authentic Polish food, including: kielbasa, homemade pierogi, stuffed cabbage and babka.
Popular festival traditions — such as the Polish choir and re-enactment of a traditional Polish wedding and wedding party parade — were omitted in this year’s event due to a lack of volunteers.
Organizers said they’re hoping for more community involvement in future events. To volunteer, contact Polish Town Fair coordinator Karen Fleischman at 631-833-1596 or [email protected]
