Cops: Two people caught stealing at Tanger charged with felony

Two people were arrested on felony charges Friday afternoon after they reportedly stole merchandise at Tanger Outlets, according to a Riverhead Town police press release.

Police responded to Tommy Hilfiger Outlet in Riverhead around noon to investigated an attempted theft, officials said.

July Beltran and Luis Palacios-Garzon, both of Queens, reportedly attempted to steal clothing and fled the scene without the merchandise, police said. Officers located the suspects in the area and they were charged with attempted petit larceny, officials said.

During the investigation, police determined Ms. Beltran and Mr. Palacios-Garzon stole merchandise from the store June 29 and charged them with fourth-degree grand larceny, the report states.

They were held for an arraignment. No other details about the investigation were immediately available.
