Southampton PD: Riverhead man arrested on felony drug charges

A Riverhead man was arrested Monday afternoon on felony drug possession charges following a foot pursuit in Northampton, according to a Southampton police press release issued Tuesday.

Police received a report of drug activity at Wildwood Lake Town Park shortly before 12:40 p.m. and stopped Willie Bryant, 36, officials said.

During the investigation, Mr. Bryant fled the area and was later apprehended at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Old Westhampton Road, police said.

Officers found he was in possession of “10 grams of crack cocaine, 8 grams of powdered cocaine and 5 bags of heroin,” the release states.

Mr. Bryant was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct, police said.

No other details about the investigation were available.
