Southampton cops arrest three in prostitution sting

Three people were arrested early Sunday in a prostitution sting by Southampton Town police.

Police had looked into online advertisements on the classifieds website backpage.com. Through an online ad, an undercover officer contacted Alexandra Haas, 25, of Shinnecock Hills and she agreed to have sex for a fee of $200, according to police.

The undercover officer was transported by Timothy Clark, 25, of Central Islip to the Budget Host Inn on Lake Avenue in Riverside, police said. It was later found Mr. Clark was driving with a suspended license, police said. Both were arrested at the inn and transported to police headquarters for processing.

Ms. Haas was charged with prostitution, a misdemeanor. Mr. Clark was charged with fourth-degree promoting prostitution and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors, police said.

That same morning, Jennifer Shim, 36, of Mastic Beach was also contacted by an undercover officer who responded to her advertisement on backpage.com. She was arrested at the Budget Host Inn and charged with prostitution, police said.
