Dates are set for Riverhead’s Alive on 25

It’s official now.

The Riverhead Town Board voted Tuesday in favor of co-sponsoring this summer’s Alive on 25 street festival and approved the event dates recommended earlier this year by the Business Improvement District Management Association.

Alive on 25, which features several live bands as well as food and craft vendors, will be held on Thursdays, July 5, 12 and 26 and Aug. 9, with an Aug. 23 rain date.

The events will run from 5 to 9:30 p.m. in downtown Riverhead, where Route 25 between Griffing and Union avenues as well as Peconic Avenue will be closed down.

The July 5 Alive on 25 will be followed by BIDMA’s annual fireworks show; the events were combined because the dates were so close.

“It’s going to be a super special night on July 5th,” said Councilman Tim Hubbard. “These dates are just a little bit different than they were last year, but they are set up in conjunction with Patchogue,” which holds its Alive After Five event on alternating Thursday nights.

“We’re looking for a great summer,” he said.
