Cops: Flanders man nabbed for drugs and weapon
A Flanders man was arrested Friday after police received complaints about drug sales near a bar in South Jamesport.
Thomas Langhorne, 58, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon Friday after the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office and the Suffolk County Probation Department launched an investigation “pertaining to drug sales at Finnegan’s Wake [sic] bar on Third Street in South Jamesport,” according to a Riverhead Town police press release issued Friday.
Mr. Langhorne was in the parking lot of the bar when he was arrested just after noon Friday, according to the police arrest report. He was in possession of cocaine, another unspecified narcotic and metal knuckles, according to court documents.
The restaurant, which is now called Cuddy’s, not Finnegan’s Wake, was not charged with any wrongdoing.
Mr. Langhorne was previously convicted of criminal possession of a controlled substance on March 16, 2016, police said.
As a result of the latest investigation, Mr. Langhorne, who is on probation, was arrested by the Suffolk County Probation Department, with help from the Suffolk district attorney’s East End Drug Task Force and Riverhead Town police.
He was arraigned Saturday in Riverhead Town Court and appeared in court again Tuesday. He was ordered held without bail.
News-Review records show that Mr. Langhorne also was indicted in July 2014 on charges including criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a weapon. It was unclear how that case was adjudicated.
The East End Drug Task Force comprises drug enforcement officers from various East End police agencies and is funded by the district attorney’s office.
