Jack Ludwig

Jack Ludwig, of Wading River, Canadian novelist and emeritus professor of English at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, died peacefully at the Kanas Center for Hospice in Quiogue Feb. 12, 2018, at the age of 95.

He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Aug. 30, 1922. He received his Bachelor of Arts in 1944 from the University of Manitoba and his PhD in 1953 from UCLA. He also taught at Williams College, Bard College, and the University of Minnesota. He is the author of three novels and numerous short stories and four books of nonfiction.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucia Zoercher; daughters, Danielle McLaughlin (Hooley), Brina Ludwig Prout (Jim), and Emmy Ludwig Miller (Andy); grandchildren, Levi (Lauren), Reuben (Petra), Gabrielle, Benjamin (Hannah), Maggie (Nicholas), Zoe and Stella, great-granddaughters, Na’ama, Chavva-tal, and Delphinium and sister, Esther Karwandy.
