Alvania Maston

Alvania Maston, a longtime resident of Cutchogue who had been a retired certified nursing assistant at the Riverhead Nursing Home,  died peacefully at her home in Frisco, Texas on February 12. She was 83.

Ms. Maston was born in Southampton in 1934, the daughter of William Johnson and Parthenia White. She was educated in the Greenport public school system.

Ms. Maston was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Mattituck for many years until her move to live with her children. She had served on the usher board and nursing unit.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah of Owings Mills, Md. and Donna of Windsor Mill, Md.; a son, William Jr. of Frisco; a son-in-law, Robert Randolph of Windsor Mill; a daughter-in-law, Diane Maston of Frisco; two grandsons, Jonathan Randolph of Baltimore, Md. and Devin Maston of Windsor Mill and a sister, Delories Samuel of Harlem, N.Y.

The family will receive visitors Friday, Feb. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. at DeFriest Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Unity Baptist Church, the Rev. Dr. Marvin Dozier officiating. Interment will follow at Cutchogue Cemetery.
