Craig A. Stewart

Craig A. Stewart of Riverhead died March 3 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was 52. 

The son of Randall Stewart and Mary (Dabney) Hopkins, he was born July 2, 1965, in Riverhead and graduated from Riverhead High School in 1983.

Mr. Stewart served in the U.S. Navy from 1988 to 1992.

He worked as a salesman at P.C. Richard & Son in Riverhead and Eagle Auto Mall and was a transporter at PBMC.

Family members said he enjoyed art, guitar playing, music and NASCAR.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his children, Dorothea and Paige, both of Riverhead; siblings, Deborah Buyukdeniz and James, both of Riverhead; his father, Randall, of Washington; his mother, Mary Hopkins of Riverhead; stepfather, Irvin Hopkins of Del.; grandmother, Dorothea Dabney of Riverhead and his nephew, Travis Hopkins-Walker.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, March 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
