Dashan J. Briggs

Former Riverhead resident Dashan J. Briggs of Port Jefferson Station died suddenly March 15. He was 30. 

The son of Gregory Briggs Sr. and Sharon Young, he was born Dec. 28, 1987, in Riverhead.

Mr. Briggs served as a technical sergeant for the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard. He had been stationed with the 106th Rescue Wing at the Frances S. Gabreski airbase in Westhampton Beach.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca (née Karen); son, Jayden and daughter, Ava; grandparents, Eli and Rose Briggs; grandmother, Gloria Smith; his mother; brother, Gregory Briggs Jr.; sisters Heather Young and Daja Young and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Meridele Karen.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday, March 28, from 2 to 4:30 and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Westhampton Beach Volunteer Fire Department. A service will take place 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at the fire department. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
