Cops: Wrong-way driver arrested in Riverside

A wrong-way driver on County Road 94 in Riverside was arrested Wednesday and charged with driving while his ability was impaired by drugs, according to Southampton Town police.

Julian Wright, 45, of Riverhead was observed driving southbound in the northbound lane at about 1 p.m., police said. Officers stopped Mr. Wright and arrested him on two felony charges: driving while ability impaired and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was also charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

He was held overnight and scheduled for arraignment Thursday, police said.
