Cops: Man found sleeping in stolen vehicle arrested in Flanders

A Florida man was arrested in Flanders Sunday after he was found sleeping in a vehicle that had been reported stolen, Southampton Town police said.

Arthur Edward Black, 28, of Kissimmee, Fla. was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class D felony.

Police said they found him after receiving a call for a welfare check on a subject parked on the side of Route 104 at about 1:15 p.m. When they arrived, they spotted Mr. Black asleep in the white Ford pickup, which had been reported stolen out of the Bronx.

Police said Mr. Black also had a warrant out for his arrest for a prior domestic battery arrest.

He was held on $500 bail for the local charge and transported to Suffolk County Jail in Riverside, according to police.
