Update: Teen injured in Riverside shooting Wednesday morning

Update 3 p.m.

Southampton Police said a 16-year-old male was shot in one of his feet and suffered non-life-threatening injuries in this morning’s shooting incident in Riverside. 

Police located the teen after he sought treatment at Peconic Bay Medical Center.

Police are still asking that anyone with information contact the Southampton Town Police detective division at 631-702-2230.

Southampton Town police responded to reports of multiple gunshots Wednesday morning in the area of Brown Street and Goodridge Avenue in Riverside, police said.

No victims were immediately located after patrol units searched the area starting shortly before 10 a.m., but police were called to Peconic Bay Medical Center a short time later where there was a report of someone with a superficial gunshot wound, police said.

An investigation in currently underway, police said.

A nearby elementary school went into lockout in response to the reports, and a resource officer remained at the school as a safety precaution, police said. The main office of Phillips Avenue Elementary School confirmed the school was in lockout.

Police are asking that anyone with information contact the Southampton Town Police detective division at 631-702-2230.
