Bettie Jane Midgette

Bettie Jane Midgette of Riverhead died June 24 at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care in Quiogue. She was 72.

The daughter of Harvey and Hilda Midgette, she was born Feb. 8, 1946, in Bellhaven, N.C. and was a 1963 graduate of Bellhaven High School.

Ms. Midgette was a case manager for Peconic Heights in Riverhead.

Family members said she liked fishing and playing cards.

She is survived by her children, Theodora of Riverhead and Ebony Johnson of Riverhead and Fla.; her brother Willie of North Carolina; her sister, Ella Phillips, of Riverhead; and four grandchildren.

All services will be held in North Carolina.

Arrangements were in the care of McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.
