Cops: Shoreham man killed after being struck by car
A 55-year-old Shoreham man was killed Monday after being struck by a vehicle while walking on Randall Road in Ridge, according to Suffolk County police.
Robert Stroud was airlifted by a Suffolk County police medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:35 p.m. when a 2008 Nissan Sentra driven by Reshma Cooke, 35, of Shoreham was traveling southbound on Randall Road and struck Mr. Stroud, who was walking northbound, police said. The crash occurred about a 1/2 mile north of Whiskey Road.
The driver remained at the scene and was not injured, police said.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives ask if anyone has information to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
