Art in the Park exhibit ‘Reflextion’s returns Sept. 15 to Grangebel Park

The Art in the Park light and art show called “Reflextions” returns to Grangebel Park next weekend.

A collaboration involving East End Arts, the Riverhead Business Improvement District, the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce, the East End Tourism Alliance and I Love NY, the walkable, interactive experience made its debut last month during Alive on 25.

The temporary art installation features an assortment of elements of “light,” such as LED, black lights or incandescent.

The Sept. 15 art show runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the light show is from 7 to 10 p.m.

The first event featured artwork that shines, glows and beams throughout the park and in the Peconic River. It included a mirrored duck and reflective swimmers that were floating at different points in the river. On land, there were fire pits— one shaped like a starfish — as well as lit up butterfly wings that will be a prime backdrop for selfies and glowing umbrella canopies covering three-foot bridges.

Another exhibit is planned for Oct. 20.
