James C. McBurnie

James C. McBurnie of Florida, formerly of Riverhead, died at home with his children by his side Sept. 21. He was 70 years old.

He was born in Riverhead April 27, 1948, to Helen (Koroleski) and Clyde McBurnie. He attended Riverhead High School and married Marilyn Brown.

Jim was a well known farm and estate auctioneer for many years, owning and operating Auctioneering by Jim McBurnie with his wife and children working by his side. He was known for his kindness and generosity, donating his time to various charities over the years. Jim loved to work on his yard and to barbecue. He will be greatly missed.

Predeceased by his wife, Marilyn, in 2016, he is survived by his three children, James, Michelle (Greg) Bottomley and Shana (Bruce) Rumph; and five grandchildren, Amanda, Shawn, Adam, Christopher and Madison.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead.

Services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will take place at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Riverhead.
