All schools in the Riverhead Central School District were briefly in a lockout Tuesday morning as police investigated the possibility of a “violent incident,” according to a statement from the district.
An investigation by Riverhead police determined that there was no credible threat, the district said. A student had reported the possibility of a violent incident.
The lockout has since been lifted and normal operations have resumed, the district said Tuesday morning.
The district’s statement was sent to all parents via robocall.
Riverhead police confirmed an investigation, but did not have any additional information to provide.
