Rockin’ for the Homeless returns to Riverhead

The 10th Rockin’ for the Homeless benefit is set for Saturday night at Polish Hall in Riverhead.

Long Island bands Who Are Those Guys, Blue Moon Rising and Gene Casey and The Lone Sharks will rock the house for the annual fundraiser that benefits John’s Place Mattituck, a homeless outreach organization.

Since 2002, the Mattituck Presbyterian Church has been inviting homeless people in the community to come in every Thursday night from November through March. John’s Place provides dinner for the evening, breakfast in the morning and a bagged lunch on those days. Last year, more than 125 people were served, according to the organization.

In addition to music, the evening includes food and dancing, a chinese auction and raffle featured dozens of prizes donated by local businesses.

Tickets can be purchased for $30 in advance at Barth’s Pharmacy, Polish Hall, Wendy’s Deli, Love Lane Kitchen or Mattituck Presbyterian Church Office prior to the event; they are also available online. Tickets are $35 at the door.

Rockin’ for the Homeless is this Saturday, Jan. 26 at Polish Hall located at 214 Marcy Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event kicks off at 6 p.m.
