John H. Harte

John H. Harte of Riverhead died March 2 at Westhampton Care Center. He was 78.

He was born Sept. 9, 1940, to Christina and Henry Harte in Newry, Northern Ireland.

Mr. Harte married Mary (née Kelley) and made a career as a mason with his own business, John Harte Mason Contractor.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Edward Harte. He is survived by his wife, who resides in Riverhead; daughters Mary Harte of Chicago and Anne (Dennis) Byrne of East Quogue; siblings Bridget Doyle, Teresa Reavey, William Harte and Seamus Harte, all of Northern Ireland; his brother- and sister-in-law Edward and Terry Kelley; and grandchildren Ciara, Aine, Declan and Niamh.

Visitors will be received Wednesday, March 13, at 10 a.m., at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Center Moriches.
