Karen Fleischman

Karen Fleischman of Fort Myers, Fla., and Riverhead died Aug. 12, 2022. She was 70.

She was born Dec. 18, 1951, to Daniel and Marian White. She graduated from Mercy High School in 1969 and retired from National Grid (formerly LILCO) and also helped her parents in the Polish Town Bakery.

She was predeceased by her partner, Mike Talbot; her parents; and siblings Bruce White Sr. and Daniel White Jr.

She is survived by her siblings Tony White Sr. of Riverhead and Pam (Bob) Zaweski of Riverhead; her sister-in-law Cindy White of Florida; her nephews and nieces, Tony White Jr., Meghan Burns, Melissa Gugiere, Bruce White Jr., Kyle and Brian White and Ronnie Danowski; and her great-nieces and -nephews, Aidyn and Ashylyn White, Emma Gugiere, and Landon and Blake Danowski.

She was past president of the Polish Town Civic Association, co-chairperson of the Polish Town Fair for many years and an honorary member of the Riverhead Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Karen was a huge Yankee fan. She loved traveling, shopping, reading, music and, mostly, spending time with family and friends. She was also known as “Ryebread” and “Cupcake” to many. She was loved by every person she met; she had a way of putting a smile on everyone’s face. She will be dearly missed.

The family received visitors Aug. 14 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass took place Aug. 15 at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Burial followed at St. Isidore Cemetery.
