Moses Goode Jr.

Moses Goode Jr., known as “Big Moe,” died peacefully July 2, 2026. He was 73. 

Born July 28,1952 in Powhatan, Va., Moses was the beloved son of Mary Giles and Moses Goode Sr. After spending his early years in Powhatan, he moved to Riverhead, where he played football for Riverhead High School and graduated in 1974. Moses served in the US Air Force.

Moses dedicated 40 years of diligence to the City of Richmond Public Works Dept. as a machine operator. 

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved the N.Y. Giants.

Predeceased by his sister Gladys Smith, Moses is survived by his devoted daughter Michonda; and treasured grandchildren Zyki and Zuri, who brought him endless joy; sisters Elise Dawkins and Rosa Braunskill; nieces and nephews Stacey Smith, Wanda Russell (Marvin), James Smith, Dedra Dawkins and Curtis Dawkins, Vince Braunskill; and best friend of over 40 years, Edward Otey. 

Services were held July 10 at Joseph Jenkins Funeral Home in Richmond, Va.
