Allen J. Luce

Allen J. Luce of Riverhead died Aug. 14, 2026 at the Kanas Center for Hospice Care. He was 73.

Born at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead Feb. 2, 1953, he was the son of Chauncey Luce and Dorothy Glover. He graduated high school and served in both the Navy and Air National Guard. Mr. Luce also worked at a U.S. Post office.

While in the military, Mr. Luce earned a number of medals and recognitions including the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Combat Action ribbon, Good Conduct medal and a Presidential Unit citation.

Family said he also served as “Big Al” of karaoke. 

Mr. Luce is survived by Bonnie Sue Luce, Matthew Luce, Melissa Carbone; and grandchildren Cosmo Carbone, and Jacob, Ethan and Evelyn Luce.

McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead assisted the family in scheduling a 10 a.m. viewing on Friday, Aug. 21 at Community Baptist Church in Riverhead, followed by a service at 11 a.m., with internment following at Calverton National Cemetery.
