Joseph J. Dinnigan

Joseph J. Dinnigan of Riverhead died March 6 at the age of 82.

Born April 29, 1929, in Brooklyn to Sarah (Bergen) and Joseph A. Dinnigan, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948 and 1951 to 1954, attaining the rank of sergeant. He was a member of Steamfitters Local Union 638 for 50 years.

Mr. Dinnigan is survived by his wife, Dorothy (née Callahan), of Riverhead; his sons, Timothy, of Medford, John, of Pennsylvania, and Robert, of Smithtown; his daughters, Diane, of Riverhead, Kathleen Humpton of New Mexico and Dorothy, of Rocky Point; his sisters, Eileen Conners and Loraine Greuble; and 10 grandchildren.

Visiting hours will take place Wednesday, March 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, March 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead. A service will be held Friday, March 9, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead, Father Lawrence Duncklee officiating. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery.
