Marshals, police turn man over to ICE
Riverhead police assisted U.S. Marshals in the arrest of a man wanted for twice illegally entering the country, authorities said.
Carlos Cartegena, age unavailable, was arrested about 5:15 a.m. Wednesday after being located on East Main Street in Riverhead. Mr. Cartegena was wanted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for illegal re-entry, having been deported once prior, Riverhead Town police said.
He also wanted on two outstanding warrants, a Suffolk County warrant for fourth-degree possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, along with a warrant for violating probation, police said.
He was turned over to the Suffolk County Police Department to be processed and was being held at the Suffolk County Correctional Facility.
