Arson suspect who allegedly threw Molotov indicted by grand jury

A Riverhead man accused of throwing a lit Molotov cocktail into a neighbor’s house has been indicted by a grand jury, according to a press release issued by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

Monwell Wright, 21, allegedly started a fire in his neighbor’s home June 15 while there were people in the residence by lighting a glass bottle filled with flammable liquid and throwing it into the building, according to criminal charges.

The home was not damaged and the fire was extinguished upon police arrival, officials said.

Mr. Wright is charged with second degree attempted arson and is scheduled for an arraignment Wednesday morning before State Supreme Court Justice William Condon.
