With summer approaching, Riverhead Town’s Helicopter Noise Task Force is gearing up for another battle over helicopter noise. Task force members met last Thursday with the Town Board and leaders of a similar group in Southold Town to plot strategy.
One of the key points they plan to highlight this year is that helicopters should not be allowed to fly over the United Riverhead Terminal oil tanks in Northville. –READ
The Riverhead Town Board has appointed eight people to serve on its newly formed helicopter noise task force.
“We get bombarded,” Aquebogue resident Connie Carlin said when asked about helicopter traffic in her neighborhood, which is near United Riverhead Terminal in Northville. “We had 41 one day. It’s been going on since 2007.” READ
Riverhead Town officials are seeking volunteers to serve on a helicopter and seaplane noise task force.
Councilman Tim Hubbard said a public meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Town Hall to appoint about seven people to the task force.
