CALVERTON, BAITING HOLLOW AND MANORVILLE

So, what do you think? Does the groundhog know his stuff? I think he might be right this time. You might want to start some seeds indoors. Basil, parsley and other herbs are a great way to start. It will give you hope for warmer days ahead!

Kent Animal Shelter is sponsoring a “Beat the Heat” spay/neuter campaign for $20 during February for 250 owned female kittens. Have your cat fixed and prevent unwanted litters. My mom just took her male kitten there and she was so pleased with how they handled everything. When scheduling an appointment (727-7797) you must mention “Beat the Heat.”

The Riverhead Rotary Club will hold its annual spaghetti dinner Wednesday, March 12, at the Riverhead Polish Hall. I will give you more info as the date approaches but for now pencil in the date.

I love thrift shops, simply love them. One that is new to me has actually been there a while but who knew? The shop offers great items and the employees there are super nice.

The staff/students at Riley Avenue Elementary School are settling in nicely since the holiday break. Thanks and recognition go to RAPA, Walmart, Goodale Productions, and the parents, faculty and staff for donating gifts to needy families during the holiday season.

My sleep-deprived nights are here. Yup, the Olympics have begun. I can’t help but watch — the stories, the athletes — it makes you smile yet cry. All have sacrificed so much. I wish them all luck and hope they’re all safe.

Happy Valentine’s Day! I wish all of you tons of love! Till next time, be safe and I will talk to you soon. Bye.
