Girls Basketball: Mercy playoff game pushed to Friday

The McGann-Mercy girls basketball team’s playoff game against Hampton Bays has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday after a snowstorm wiped out tonight’s game.

The fourth-seeded Mercy girls will take on the top-seeded Lady Baymen after a 49-46 victory Tuesday in an outbracket game against Port Jefferson. The Monarchs won their first playoff game in four years.

They’ll face a daunting challenge against the League VII champion Lady Baymen, who are 16-2 this season. Hampton Bays won 74-24 against Mercy in a Dec. 17 game.
