Vigil to express solidarity with Charlottesville planned for Riverhead

Community members are planning to gather for a vigil Monday in Riverhead to honor Heather Heyer’s memory and those who were injured during the violence that took place in Charlottesville earlier this month.

The vigil is planned to express “solidarity and unity” and will be a “community gathering to share messages of healing and comfort,” according to a flyer.

The event starts at 6 p.m. and will take place at the gazebo in the Peconic Riverfront Park, which is located at McDermott Avenue and Heidi Behr Way.

“Bring your candles, chairs, families, friends and positive energy,” the flyer states.
