Town Board issues proclamation to Columbia Care for donation

The Riverhead Town Board issued a proclamation Tuesday to Columbia Care, which runs a medical marijuana dispensary on East Main Street, for its gift of $4,000 to install a new electronic scoreboard at the Horton Avenue basketball courts.

Councilwoman Jodi Giglio said Columbia Care had been asking what they could do for the community, so when Larry Williams and Dwayne Eleazer, co-founders of the annual “Stop the Violence” basketball tournament at the Horton Avenue park, suggested a new scoreboard was needed, she brought the request to Columbia Care, who took up the offer, she said.

“This is greatly appreciated,” Mr. Williams said. The tournament this past August was the 11th straight. He also thanked the town and its recreation and police departments for their efforts.

“Thank you for accepting us into the community,” said Columbia Care representative Christine Chisari.
