Unfinished Baiting Hollows condo building coming down
The Riverhead Town Board on Tuesday issued a request for proposals to demolish an unfinished condominium building at the Knolls of Baiting Hollow.
Residents there have complained that the building is unsafe and have been calling for its removal for two years.
The board held a public hearing on the prospect of requiring it to be removed earlier this year, during which the town fire marshal and town engineer both recommended that the building come down.
Mr. Walter said the town waited to issue the RFP because the developer had initially indicated he would take it down himself, but that this has not occurred.
