Shoreham-Wading River appoints new administrators, principals
Shoreham-Wading River Central School District announced several new administrators on Tuesday who will be stepping into leadership roles for the new year. The appointments come as longtime administrators retired.
Dr. Jennifer Lewner has been appointed as the new assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and assessment, after acting in the same role in the Valley Stream 30 Central School District. Before being appointed assistant superintendent in 2018, she served as the district’s administrative director for 21st century learning and as an assistant principal.
Earlier in her career, she was a teacher with the New York City Department of Education, along with Scholars’ Academy in Rockaway Park and the Brandeis School in Lawrence.
Dr. Meg Sheehan is joining the district as assistant superintendent for human resources after serving as a principal in the Port Washington School District. She also previously served as an assistant principal in Port Washington, a principal in the Freeport School District, head of school at North Shore Montessori School, and as an administrator and teacher educator at the West Side Montessori School and Center for Montessori Education.
Kassandra Nitti has also been named director of technology, moving up from the district’s assistant director.
“These administrators bring exceptional educational leadership, a strong commitment to supporting all students, and a collaborative approach to working alongside our faculty and staff,” Superintendent Gerard Poole said. “We are excited to welcome them to their new roles and look forward to the positive impact they will have across our district.”
Aside from the administrative changes, the upcoming school year will see moves at Albert G. Prodell Middle School. Current Miller Avenue School Principal Claudia Smith will become the new principal, where she looks forward to reconnecting with many former students and families. Jonathan Lilla, currently an assistant principal at Shoreham-Wading River High School, has been named assistant principal at Albert G. Prodell Middle School.
Christopher Molinelli will become principal at Miller Avenue Elementary School after serving as a K-2 principal in the Deer Park School District. Mr. Molinelli and his family are already residents of the Shoreham-Wading River community.
