Peconic Landing seeks sculptors for outdoor sculpture exhibition
Peconic Landing is looking for sculptors to showcase their work as part of its 25th anniversary celebration and exhibition next year, with selected pieces to be displayed throughout the Greenport campus.
The exhibition will include public tours, signage identifying and explaining each piece, and QR codes linking visitors to the artists’ websites and more information about their work. Accepted artists will also receive two tickets to the exhibition’s gala reception in June 2027.
“For many years, our sculpture garden has reflected Peconic Landing’s commitment to the arts and provided an opportunity for members and visitors to experience outstanding work in a beautiful setting,” CEO Robert Syron said. “We’re excited to welcome new artists whose work will become part of that tradition as we celebrate our 25th anniversary.”
Artists can submit up to three original sculptures designed for long-term outdoor display. Works must be structurally sound and no more than 12 feet tall, although larger-scale pieces are encouraged. Selected sculptures will remain on loan at Peconic Landing for at least two years.
Applications should include a resume or biography, photos of the work and an installation plan for each submission.
They are due Dec. 1, with selected artists to be notified by Feb. 1, 2027. Installation is scheduled for April, ahead of the anniversary gala.
Since the sculpture garden was founded in 2010, Peconic Landing has featured more than 60 projects by more than 30 artists. The first exhibit included 16 sculptures by local and international artists, with additional pieces added in 2011 and along Brecknock Road in 2012.
The current collection includes 13 permanent installations.
The lifecare community has also made its sculpture garden accessible to the visually impaired over the years through its Art Without Barriers initiative. Staff created descriptive audio for each sculpture, including some in the artist’s own words, and has offered braille and tactile guided tours.
