Robert L. Marascia

Robert L. “Bob” Marascia, 82, of Wading River, passed away peacefully on Oct. 2, 2026.

He was born in Brooklyn Dec.14, 1943, to the late Laura Prunit and Robert Nathan Marascia.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lois Marascia (Kranzmann); and his children: Robert Louis Marascia (Tina), Gina Hubbard (Gary), Jessica Stanco (Alfredo), and Brett Marascia (Frances). He was the proud grandfather of Kariane Chew, Kevin Chew, Alexandria Marascia, Aleesia Stanco, Robert Marascia III, Nicolas Stanco, Sydney Marascia, Thomas Marascia, and Brett A. Marascia, and the cherished great-grandfather of Carson. He is also survived by his brother, Gregory Prunitis.

Bob dedicated 38 years of his professional life to Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York, where he worked as a Design Engineer. During his career, he worked at the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) and the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), collaborating with physicists to create extensive drawings for complex scientific experiments. He also oversaw the rigging work required to provide shielding for those experiments.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was an active and well-loved member of the Brookhaven National Laboratory community. He participated in many sports activities and served on the Brookhaven Employees Recreation Association Board. Bob’s outgoing personality made him well loved by all who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as a fun-loving character, with a reputation as a prankster who could always bring laughter to those around him. He became a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in 2017 and spent many happy days and evenings enjoying the company and friendship
of fellow members. He was also a member of the Moose Legion.

In earlier years, Bob was active in the Long Island Sports Committee, serving as a referee and then president at their motocross races. He was also an avid Yankees fan. He and his wife, Lois, loved to travel, especially when traveling with beloved friends. Above all, Bob treasured his family and the many friendships he made throughout his life. His laughter, generosity, humor, and unmistakable personality will be deeply missed by his closeknit family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Moose Charities, 155 S. International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539-1100, may be made. Services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Alexander-Rothwell Funeral Home, 6447 Route 25A, Wading River, NY, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
