Joseph S. Suspenski

Joseph S. Suspenski of Calverton died Oct. 13, 2026 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 97.

Born in Oyster Bay, N.Y. April 21, 1929, he was the son of Victor and Helen (Twalska) Suspenski. He graduated Oyster Bay High School in 1949 and served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953.

Mr. Suspenski was married to Barbara (nee Loeser) and worked as a foreman for Lilco from 1953 to 1995. Family said he enjoyed playing hardball at Stotzky Park, watching baseball, bowling, woodworking, hunting and fishing.

Predeceased by his wife Barbara, he is survived by his children Denise Suspenski of Bay Shore, N.Y., Steven of Calverton and Melinda Bobinski of Pa.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Sunday, Oct. 18 from 2 to 5 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. The funeral service is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19 at noon at St. John’s Church with interment following at Calverton National Cemetery.
