Sound Avenue to be paved Monday, may cause traffic delays
Riverhead Town’s Highway Department will pave Sound Avenue from Roanoke Court to Sandpiper Drive on Monday, weather permitting.
Highway Superintendent Mike Zaleski said the roughly one-mile stretch of road will not be closed, but he asks drivers to consider taking another route wherever they need to go. The work is expected to be finished the same day.
“Each year I try to pick the worst areas in town that could use repaving, and this was one,” Mr. Zaleski said. “We will work with traffic, but we’re just asking to choose another route if possible.”
Mr. Zaleski said the decision to repave now is because, for high-volume roads, he likes to wait until school is out.
