Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home to host free paper shredding event

Need to get rid of some paper clutter? Get some shredding done at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home for free this weekend.

The local Riverhead funeral home located at at 406 E. Main St. is hosting a free paper shredding event for the public on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to around noon — or until the shredding truck is full.

Bring up to four bags or boxes of documents to professional mobile shredding truck that will be on-site. Residential use paper documents will only be accepted, not materials from commercial businesses. Staples and paper clips are permitted, but the truck will not shred binders, plastic sleeves, cardboard, electronics, hard drives or other non-paper materials.

The purpose of the community-focused initiative is to curb growing fears of identity theft and data security concerns by giving residents an easy and secure way to safely dispose of sensitive personal documents. Residents can even watch as their documents are shredded in the mobile truck, representatives of the funeral home said in a news release.
